Donate Blood in North Devon

The incredible NHS urgently need more blood donations through the summer and into the Winter months to support their vital services and save lives. Here in North Devon, you can get involved and support our incredible NHS by donating blood at one of the following places: 

• Barnstaple, Grosvenor Church
• Barnstaple, Roundswell Community Centre
• Filleigh, Village Hall
• Bideford, Pollyfields Centre

The blood donation process is easy and saves lives so make sure you are registered or register today.

Most people throughout Devon can donate straight away, however, you will need to wait if you fit any of the following criteria.

• Heart conditions
• Have been pregnant or given birth in the last 6-months
• Been outside the UK in the last 4 months 
• Donated whole blood plasma or platelets in the last 16 weeks 
• Have had any piercings or tattoos, semi-permanent make-up or cosmetic treatment that pierced the skin in the last 4 months 
• Had acupuncture in the last 4 months 
• Had a flexible endoscopy or colonoscopy in the last 4 months
• If you've had sex with a new partner or more than one partner in the last 3 months.
• If you have had a cough, sore throat, sore cold symptoms if in the last 28 days
• If you've had any contact with anyone with an infectious disease in the last 4 weeks.
• Or you've had an infection in the last 2-weeks or have been on antibiotics in the last 7-days 
• If you've had a Covid vaccination in the last 7-days
• Have had any dental treatment in the last 7 days or that is ongoing
• If you have an active cold sore

When you give blood, the whole process takes about an hour. You will be given something to drink and they will then take just under a pint (470ml) of blood will be taken which only takes between 5 - 10 minutes. 

Blood drive donation days will be added to our events guide but include the 21st of November 2021 between 1pm - 18.30pm at Barnstaple Grosvenor Church and on the 11th of October 2021 at Bideford Pollyfield Centre. Your donation may just save your neighbour, friend, boss or child, so let's support each other.
