North Devon Now Reviews Dangerous Corner

In complete contrast to last week's hilarious and fast-paced 'Wife Begins At Forty', tonight the same company gave us a well crafted and somewhat slower-paced performance of J B Priestley's ingenious and thought provoking  'Dangerous Corner'. The play is part thriller, part who-done-it and part observation of what a single change of circumstance can do to the lives of a small group of friends. Set in the 1930's, today's younger audience may find it difficult to comprehend the self indulgency, adultery and other dubious practices of the well-to-do in those days, which was portrayed so convincingly by the cast. The numerous twists and turns of the plot kept us guessing throughout as each character's deceit and subterfuge were revealed when the truth came to light. At the finale, there was a short travel back in time to the moment when the change occurred and we were given a glimpse of just how one trivial incident can have such devastating effects. So totally different from last week's production but a thoroughly enjoyable evening nonetheless.
