Over and Above is the registered working name of the Northern Devon Healthcare NHS Trust Charitable Fund and is the independent registered charity no. 1051463 which supports the work of Northern Devon Healthcare NHS Trust.

We fundraise Over and Above what the NHS is able to provide to make a real difference to our patients, their families and our amazing staff that treat them.

Your efforts, support and donations make a huge difference for patients; improving the hospital environment, buying state-of-the-art medical equipment and helping us to go way beyond the NHS standard. We support causes across the entire Trust in hospitals and our community services.

Did you know that your amazing support has recently helped us to fund…

• £250,000 for specialist equipment needed in the Special Care Baby Unit. Including the purchase of three state of the art Draeger neonatal ventilators.
• over £2.2m to build a new Chemotherapy and Day Treatment Unit at North Devon District Hospital for the benefit of the thousands of cancer patients we see each year.
• £30,000 towards a new relatives room close to the Intensive Care Unit
• £7,600 for a specialised trolley for the Special Care Baby Unit
• £5,500 to buy a IntelliVue MP5 Observation Machine to help our stroke patients
• £4,000 for a treadmill for use by our Physiotherapy patients
• £3,800 for adult and paediatric Resus Trolleys
• £2,000 to purchase four Ipads to benefit patients with acquired neurological conditions
• £550.00 to purchase specialist high chairs for Caroline Thorpe Children’s Ward.

Our latest appeal will fund a newly built state of the art information and support centre for people affected by cancer. This incredible centre, with overnight accommodation, will be the first dedicated centre of its kind locally. This will be a significant step forward to meeting the rising demand for cancer services locally, and provide support from diagnosis to after care. Cancer can affect every part of your life and people need financial, emotional and practical support, as well as medical treatment. Whether they're the patient, are caring for someone or are simply worried about cancer, the centre will provide a place to come to find a wide range of services.  For instance, we hope to provide complementary therapies, Reiki and reflexology, counselling, bra and wig fittings, support groups and nutritional advice, all under one roof, and in a relaxing non-clinical environment.  And, when it’s needed most, new overnight accommodation will be accessible to patients, their family and loved ones.

To make this a reality we need to raise £1.5 million and we’re taking action now to raise these vital funds. The new centre, at the North Devon District Hospital, will mean that no one going through cancer treatment in North Devon will have to do it alone. It’s only with your support that we can make this happen, and for that we cannot thank you enough.
